TORONTO (CP) – Having an older brother or sister with multiple sclerosis does not protect siblings lower on the birth-order ladder from developing the neurological disease, a Canadian study suggests.
Researchers Assess Brain Atrophy In MS Patients
Patients with MS appear to have greater brain atrophy than individuals without MS, and brain atrophy varies between different forms of MS, according to a trial published in the July 26 issue of the journal Neurology.

A Mayo Clinic study demonstrates that only those multiple sclerosis (MS) patients with evidence for antibody deposition or complement activation — immune cells that can cause tissue destruction — in their lesions are likely to respond to plasma exchange, a treatment for acute MS attacks.
